Perfect for making ahead, they offer a sweet taste of nostalgia with every bite.

Ingredients:

- **4 sheets of wafers**

- **2 liters of milk**

- **200 g walnuts, finely chopped**

- **6.5 dl granulated sugar**

- **2 tsp vanilla sugar**

Instructions:

1. Boil the Milk:

- In a large non-stick saucepan, bring 2 liters of milk to a boil. Stir regularly to prevent the milk from burning.

- Allow the milk to boil down to half its volume.

2. Add Sugar:

- Once the milk has reduced, add the granulated sugar and vanilla sugar.

- Continue to stir occasionally as the milk begins to change color and caramelize.

3. Thicken the Mixture:

- Keep cooking the mixture, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and leaves traces when you stir with a ladle.

- Once thickened, stir in the finely chopped walnuts.

4. Assemble the Wafers:

- While the filling is still warm, spread it evenly over the wafer sheets.

- You will create three layers of filling between the wafers.

5. Set the Wafers:

- Cover the top wafer with a clean kitchen towel or foil.

- Place a heavy object, like a cookbook or a heavy pan, on top to press the layers together.

- Let it sit overnight to ensure the wafers are well-glued together.

6. Serve:

- The next day, cut the wafers into 3-4 cm long pieces.

These delightful oblatne wafers are perfect for sharing with family and friends or enjoying as a sweet indulgence. With their rich caramel and nutty flavor, they're sure to become a beloved treat in your home. Happy baking from Granny J!
