Sutlijas: A Taste of Nostalgia

When I was growing up, Sutlijaš was considered a delicacy "in a hurry." Rice cooked in sweet milk, with cinnamon on top, was accessible to every family and every household, regardless of their financial means. The aroma of cinnamon wafting through the house signaled comfort and warmth, a moment of simple joy amidst the everyday hustle. It seems to me that Sutlijaš is today forgotten, neglected, and suppressed by biscuits and ground biscuits in all varieties, which have taken the lead among simple delicacies. The tradition of gathering around a pot of bubbling Sutlijaš, sharing stories and laughter, is a memory that seems to fade with time. It's a shame...

For an unforgettable and long-lasting memory of Sutlijaš, here's the recipe

Ingredients:

- 1 cup of rice

- 2 glasses of water

- 4 glasses of milk

- 8 spoons of sugar

- Cinnamon

Instructions:

1. Clean the rice, wash it, and cook it in water with constant stirring.

2. When the water boils almost completely, reduce the temperature (to 1.5) and pour in 1 glass of milk.

3. When it boils, add another glass of milk and sugar.

4. Stir occasionally, and when the liquid boils, add another two glasses of milk.

5. Boil and pour hot into bowls.

6. Cool and sprinkle with cinnamon.

**Pleasant!**

Sutlijaš holds a special place in my heart, bringing back memories of simpler times when this delightful dish was a common treat. Each spoonful of this creamy rice pudding transports me back to those cozy evenings, filled with warmth and family love. If you haven't tried it yet, I encourage you to make this traditional dessert and create new memories with your loved ones. Enjoy!
